What’s a normal baby’s stool look like?

What is the normal stool of a baby depends on what stage the baby is in and what kind of feeding, for example, the stool of a newborn baby is dark green, the stool of a breastfed baby is golden yellow, and the stool of a formula-fed baby is earthy yellow or green, all of which are normal.
Generally, babies start to defecate about 12 hours after birth, and will empty the first batch of feces accumulated in the intestines, which belongs to the sticky black or dark green stools, and the feces will turn yellowish-green after complete emptying, which are the normal manifestations.
Breastfed babies, discharged feces is golden yellow, interspersed with small particles, feces is softer, more dilute, is a normal phenomenon.
Formula-fed babies have stools that are earthy yellow or green in color and are slightly dry and rough. Formula basically added a lot of iron, the baby can not fully absorb, iron will be excreted, resulting in stool color green, these are normal.
It is also normal for babies to add complementary foods after 6 months of age, and due to the greater variety of complementary foods, the color of the discharged stool is slowly approaching that of a normal person.
If you find that your baby’s stools are not normal, with more or less frequent bowel movements, diarrhea or constipation, it is recommended that you consult a doctor promptly.
