What to do if you have diarrhea and black stools

Diarrhea with black stools is usually associated with gastritis, gastric ulcer, gastric cancer and other diseases. General treatment, medication or surgery should be taken according to the cause.
1. Gastritis: When gastritis aggravates and causes gastric mucous membrane irritation, it is easy to cause gastrointestinal bleeding, which leads to black stools, accompanied by diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, etc. If combined with Helicobacter pylori infection, it should be treated promptly with medication or surgery. If combined with Helicobacter pylori infection, it should be timely to take quadruple therapy, such as with clarithromycin + metronidazole + omeprazole + bismuth potassium citrate.
2. Gastric ulcer: Gastric ulcer seriously leads to bleeding of gastric mucosa, which will cause black stools, diarrhea and other symptoms. If the amount of bleeding is small, you can follow the doctor’s instructions to take drugs such as Famotidine, Omeprazole and other drugs to inhibit gastric acid secretion, Rebapatide, colloidal bismuth pectin and other drugs to protect the gastric mucosa. For patients with large amount of bleeding, endoscopic hemostasis or surgery can be used.
3. Gastric cancer: it is a malignant tumor occurring in gastric mucosa, early gastric cancer can be treated with radical surgery to remove the tumor, and patients who cannot be operated can be treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
4. Intestinal tumors: such as colon cancer, if the cancer cells invade the mucosa of intestines and there is ulceration and bleeding, persistent diarrhea and black stool may occur. Usually, surgical treatment is needed, such as radical surgery for colon cancer, etc. If metastasis occurs, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are needed.
In addition, black stool with diarrhea may be caused by enteritis, duodenal ulcer, colon cancer, etc. It is suggested that patients should seek medical treatment in time to find out the cause and receive timely treatment.
