When people have carotid ultrasound, the doctor will write the carotid plaque size on the ultrasound result, which usually consists of two numbers, the front number refers to the plaque length and the back number refers to the plaque thickness, both in millimeters, so that the size of the patient’s carotid plaque can be observed through the ultrasound result. If the length is longer and the thickness is thicker, further examination is needed to see how much the plaque affects the blood vessels and whether it will lead to significant narrowing of the carotid artery or even complete occlusion leading to cerebral infarction. If carotid plaque is present, active intervention is needed to reduce or avoid cerebral infarction.
