The edema usually recovers in a few days after eating salt

Edema after eating salt usually refers to eating too much salt, usually 1~2 days can reduce swelling. Edema after eating too much salt is because the osmotic pressure of extracellular fluid increases, causing extravasation of intracellular fluid, triggering edema in the sagging parts of the body. Because of eating salty and edema, you can drink a moderate amount of water, accelerate metabolism, increase urination, to help the excess salt in the body to discharge to alleviate the symptoms of edema, usually 1 ~ 2 days time can reduce swelling. Some patients with severe edema can also consider using diuretics, such as furosemide, to expel excess water. If the edema is not relieved in 2 days, it is recommended to consult the hospital to check whether there are other diseases causing edema symptoms.
