Superior vena cava obstruction is a manifestation of superior vena cava syndrome, mainly caused by malignant tumors, but not necessarily lung cancer.
Superior vena cava syndrome is a series of manifestations caused by obstruction of the superior vena cava, most of which are caused by malignant tumors, of which malignant tumors predominate, commonly lung cancer and lymphoma. In addition, there are also non-neoplastic factors, such as inflammatory lesions inside and outside the superior vena cava, mediastinitis, superior vena cava, constrictive pericarditis and so on. Therefore, superior vena cava obstruction is not always caused by lung cancer.
For patients with superior vena cava obstruction, they should go to local regular hospitals for consultation, relevant examination, clear diagnosis, and choose appropriate ways to deal with it. If it is detected as lung cancer, it should be treated by surgery in the early stage of the disease to avoid delaying the condition, or it may affect one’s health.
