The dry season in northern cities is from November to May every year. During this half-year period, we often see dry eczema in infants and children, which is characterized by local dry and rough skin, with a large amount of flakes on the surface, and in severe cases, thickened patchy lesions and even dry cracking and oozing. This situation suggests to us that the child’s skin has been very dry and lack of oil, what to do next? We suggest parents to use emollients for the whole body of the child, silicone cream, vitamin E milk, Eucerin, Stave, Avène and other emollients are good choices, and the method of application is: 5-6 times daily for the whole body, daily. In addition, the affected area needs to apply skin cream and hydrocortisone butyrate or mometasone furoate ointment, the use method is: skin cream and hydrocortisone butyrate cream (or mometasone furoate ointment) 1:1 mixed application, twice a day, after 3 days of continuous use the ratio becomes 2:1, and then after 3 days of use if not completely good can be 3:1 use for 3 days, after good can always stop the drug. But emollients can not be stopped. If it recurs after a few days, you can start using those two drugs from the beginning (1:1 mix). Our experience is that we recommend using Botox cream with hydrocortisone butyrate for the face and Botox cream with mometasone furoate for the scalp, extremities and trunk. If the whole body has a large area of eczema, we can also use some herbal lotions for the child’s bathing (e.g., Pediatric Skin Care Rub, Skin Care Lotion, etc.).
