The causes of high monocyte count may be physiologic, infections, and blood disorders.
1. Physiological: Infants and children may have slightly higher monocyte counts for physiological reasons.
2. Infections: Some infectious diseases such as acute infections, tuberculosis, infective endocarditis, malaria, etc., can cause a significant increase in monocyte count.
3. Blood diseases: such as leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphoma and other blood diseases can also be seen in high monocyte counts.
There may be other reasons for high monocyte count. If physiological reasons are excluded, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease and then give targeted treatment.
