According to different books, Yi Yuan Tang is mainly used for treating Dai Yang (a condition of redness in the cheeks caused by Yang deficiency floating in the upper part of the body), or pox rashes, etc. It can restore Yang and save the health of the body.
It is used in treating Dai Yang syndrome. Symptoms include redness in the face and heat in the body, not annoyance but agitation, inability to drink water, and a weak pulse.
According to CiYu XinShu, YiYuan Tang is composed of ginseng, astragalus, licorice, atractylodes macrocephala, tangerine peel, angelica sinensis, chuanxiong rhizoma, asparagus, platycodon grandiflorus, ginger and other medicines, which have the efficacy of benefiting qi and transmitting rashes, and it is mainly used in clinical practice to treat acne rashes and weakness of vital energy. Symptoms include mental fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), low speech and impermeable rash.
