Do the symptoms of mild gout go away on their own?

Symptoms caused by mild gout usually resolve on their own, but diet and lifestyle management should still be observed and medication is needed if necessary. Mild gout may cause transient redness, swelling and pain in the joints, most of which will resolve on their own within 2 weeks. However, gout is prone to flare-ups, so lifestyle management should continue to be emphasized even after symptoms have subsided. Daily intake of high-purine foods should be limited, especially animal offal and seafood are not recommended. Alcohol and smoking should be stopped, and drinks high in fructose should be avoided as much as possible. Regular exercise and weight control are recommended. Gout patients are advised to go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation and standardized diagnosis and treatment according to the doctor’s instructions.
