The germ usually appears at 6 to 7 weeks of gestation.
For women with regular menstrual cycles, averaging 28 days, an intrauterine gestational sac with a yolk sac is usually visible on transvaginal ultrasound at 4 to 5 weeks of pregnancy. At 6 weeks of gestation, fetal buds appear, followed by heart tube pulsations at 7 weeks.
However, in some women, due to late fertilization, slow development of the embryo, or a long menstrual cycle, the buds may appear relatively late, but no later than 9 weeks of pregnancy. If there are no buds at 9 weeks of pregnancy, the possibility of embryonic arrest needs to be considered.
When women of childbearing age experience menopause, they should go to the hospital in a timely manner, complete the relevant examinations, determine whether they are pregnant or not under the guidance of a specialized doctor, and follow the doctor’s instructions to undergo regular obstetric checkups.
