Chills in response to infusion are usually caused by fever reaction. Depending on the condition, they can be treated by general treatment, physical therapy, and medication (e.g., dexamethasone).
1. General treatment: when the symptoms of fever and chills are not serious, the infusion rate can be slowed down but the intravenous access should be kept; when the condition is serious, the infusion should be stopped and the remaining solution and the infusion apparatus should be analyzed to find the source of fever.
2. Physical therapy: when fever and chills are present, warm water baths and ice packs can be used to cool down the body, which is conducive to lowering the body temperature.
3. Drug treatment: when the fever, chills and physical cooling effect is not good, you can use dexamethasone and other drugs to reduce fever under the guidance of the physician.
The reaction of infusion should be dealt with in time.
