Heart failure is not necessarily due to heart yang deficiency, but may be due to heart yang deficiency, water-drinking overriding the heart, stasis blocking the heart veins, etc., which needs to be judged by combining other symptoms. According to Chinese medicine, heart failure is mainly related to qi deficiency and blood stasis, water-drinking overriding the heart, and stasis blocking the heart veins, etc., and the clinical manifestations of different patterns are different. If you have palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), chest tightness and shortness of breath, especially when you move, pale face, cold (cold body) and cold limbs; pale tongue with white moss, weak or thin and feeble pulse, etc., you can consider heart yang deficiency. It can be treated with Gui Zhi Gan Cao Long Bone and Oyster Tang combined with Ginseng and Subsidiary Tang. If there are symptoms such as palpitation and dizziness, chest tightness and fullness (stomach distension and discomfort), thirst, short urine, or swelling of the lower limbs, coldness (cold body) and cold limbs, accompanied by nausea, desire to vomit, salivation (drooling); pale and fat tongue, white moss, slippery pulse (stringy and slippery), or fine and slippery pulse, it is considered to be a deficiency of the heart of the water-drinking. It can be treated with Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang. For those with palpitation, chest tightness, heart pain, pain like pins and needles, blue lips and nails; purple tongue or petechiae, astringent pulse, or nodding or substituting, etc., it is considered to be stasis blocking the heart veins, and can be treated with Peach Kernel and Safflower Decoction.
