A tendon pain in the middle of the dorsum of the foot may be caused by trauma, nerve compression, tenosynovitis and other reasons.
1. Trauma: If the foot is overly active, such as playing soccer or rock climbing. It may lead to strain on the muscles or tendons at the back of the foot, resulting in pain in the middle tendon of the instep. It is recommended to rest, avoid exertion of the foot, and apply ointment if necessary.
2. Nerve compression: If the herniated lumbar disc compresses the nerve root and causes sciatica, the pain may run to the buttocks, outer thighs, anterior calves and the back of the feet, so the herniated lumbar disc may also manifest as a tendon pain in the middle of the back of the foot. It is recommended to rest in bed and avoid weight bearing on the lower back.
3. Tenosynovitis: If the patient has stenosing tenosynovitis in the dorsum of the foot, this condition is mainly due to the edema of the tendon sheath compressing the passing tendon, which will cause obvious pain in the middle of the dorsum of the foot when the toes are flexed and extended. It is recommended to reduce foot activities, wear a brace if necessary to avoid wear and tear of the muscles and tendons, and require surgical release if necessary.
Patients with a tendon pain in the middle of the dorsum of the foot, if the pain persists unrelieved, should go to the regular hospital in time, to clarify the cause of the disease, under the guidance of professional doctors to give targeted treatment.
