Lymph nodes are normal tissues and abnormal enlargement is the pathological condition. The difference between sebaceous cysts and enlarged lymph nodes is in terms of site of occurrence, nature and treatment. 1. Prevalent site: the former occurs in the parts of the skin where sebaceous glands are more densely distributed, such as the chest, back, shoulders, and sometimes also in the facial area; while the latter mainly occurs in the subcutaneous armpits, the neck, the groin and these parts of the lymph nodes are more distributed. 2. Nature: Sebaceous cysts are cystic, while lymph nodes are substantial. 3. Treatment: sebaceous cysts require surgical treatment in order to be cured; lymph node enlargement is caused by inflammation, metastasis of malignant tumors, etc., which need to be treated accordingly according to the doctor’s prescription. Clinically, it is easy to distinguish between the two, but it should be treated according to the doctor’s instructions after a clear diagnosis.
