In the case of a newborn with a head mass that is soft to the touch, the most common cause is a scalp hematoma resulting from the birth process. If the hematoma is large in scope, you need to go to the hospital for puncture and blood extraction, pressure bandage, and faster absorption. If the hematoma is small in scope, you can observe it first and wait for it to absorb slowly by itself. If the hematoma is not well absorbed, it is easy to form mechanization and calcification in the later stage, leading to local bulging deformity, after which surgery may be needed to correct it.
