It is impossible to generalize how long it usually takes for otolithiasis to heal without treatment. It can be as short as 1-2 weeks or as long as months or years, and some patients do not recover without treatment.
Although otolithiasis has a tendency to heal on its own, and some patients can recover without treatment, some patients are caused by overexertion or changes in the metabolism of calcium ions, and the symptoms are relatively mild, it is possible that the disease can be cured after 1-2 weeks, or a few weeks, through adequate rest and calcium ion supplementation. In some cases, the cause of the disease is unknown, and it may take years to heal, or it may not heal without treatment.
Patients with otolithiasis are recommended to be treated aggressively. Generally, a positional test is performed to identify the location of the semicircular canals where the otolithiasis is located, and the otolithiasis can be cured by manipulation or repositioning with a machine.
Active treatment can shorten the course of the disease and reduce the patient’s pain, so it is recommended that the patient should actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
