Women experience heavy menstrual flow with bright red color for a short period of time after delivery. The reasons for heavy menstrual flow with bright red color are: i. There may be a small amount of placenta and fetal membrane remaining in the uterine cavity. Second, there may be a rupture of small blood vessels, resulting in the occurrence of poor contraction of the uterus. Third, when a woman has a cervical laceration or vaginal wall laceration after delivery, resulting in small vessel bleeding. Fourth, when there is coagulation dysfunction, there may also be an increase in the volume and bright red color of menstruation. When a woman has more bleeding and bright red color within a short time after delivery, massage of the uterus, intramuscular injection of uterine contraction, examination of vaginal and cervical lacerations for suturing, ultrasound examination if necessary, and early removal of the placenta and fetal membranes, if any, should be given. If the coagulation dysfunction is caused, anticoagulation and other comprehensive treatment should be actively given.
