Disinfection alcohol cannot be drunk. There are three kinds of alcohol commonly used in daily life, industrial alcohol, medical alcohol and edible alcohol. Used for disinfection is 75% medical alcohol solution, medical alcohol and edible alcohol production process is similar, are made of starchy plants by saccharification and then fermentation, distillation. However, the distillation temperature of medical alcohol is lower than that of edible wine, the number of distillations is higher than that of edible wine, the alcoholic content is higher, the product output is higher, and there are more ethers and aldehydes other than alcohol than edible wine, so it can come into contact with the human body and be used for disinfection of the body surface. However, because it contains more impurities, it cannot be consumed. Because edible alcohol needs to be consumed, its production process tries to filter out harmful components to the human body. Therefore, edible grade alcohol can replace medical alcohol for disinfection, and vice versa, medical alcohol is not drinkable.
