Is rivaroxaban a statin?

Rivaroxaban is not a statin. Rivaroxaban is a new type of oral anticoagulant. It is commonly used in the anticoagulation treatment of orthopedic surgery and perioperative surgery to prevent venous thrombosis; it is also used in the treatment of pulmonary embolism and the prevention of embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Rivaroxaban acts as an anticoagulant by inhibiting coagulation factor Xa, and is also able to antithrombin, thereby inhibiting the activity of thrombin and enhancing its anticoagulant effect. Statins help the body lower blood lipids mainly by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis, mainly by lowering LDL cholesterol to achieve a specific target value, so that lipid-lowering can be maintained at an appropriate level to avoid atherosclerosis, which can cause heart attack and brain infarction, and can improve the quality of life. Doctors usually assess the degree of dyslipidemia and the risk of cardiovascular diseases first, so as to set a detailed target value for patients and choose reasonable statin drugs to achieve the purpose of lowering blood lipids, commonly used drugs include atorvastatin calcium and resulvastatin calcium.
