Does a rabid dog die when it bites?

A dog that has rabies and develops symptoms can die after biting someone. A dog that has rabies and develops clinical symptoms will not survive long. Whether or not a dog dies after biting a person does not determine whether or not the dog carries the rabies virus. There are many dogs that can carry the rabies virus in good health. After biting a person, the person may have a rabies attack and die, but the dog may still be in good health and alive. Therefore, it is not possible to judge whether a person will be infected with rabies by the life status of the dog. Statistics on the rabies virus show that many normal dogs can also carry the rabies virus. The ten-day observation method is commonly used in clinical practice and can achieve certain results in developed countries, but many physicians in China do not recommend its use, mainly because there are cases where rabies is transmitted to humans after a healthy dog carrying the virus bites them.
