Do you need a gastroscope for GERD?

Gastroesophageal reflux is mainly caused by the relaxation of cardia sphincter and reflux of large amount of gastric acid, which usually requires gastroscopy.
When the patient’s cardia sphincter relaxes, a large amount of gastric acid in the stomach refluxes into the esophagus, causing damage to the esophageal mucosa such as rupture, erosion, edema, etc., which manifests itself as obvious acid reflux, heartburn and other discomforts, and generally needs to be diagnosed in combination with specific symptoms and a clear gastroscopy, in which obvious redness and swelling of the esophageal mucosa, atrophy, and erosion, etc., can be observed, and therefore requires a gastroscopy.
Gastroscopy can clarify the degree of esophageal damage and observe whether the esophagus is malignant due to repeated acid reflux, therefore, gastroscopy is recommended for gastroesophageal reflux.
