Massage can improve pseudomyopia, but not true myopia.
Massage generally refers to acupressure points around the eyes, which can relax the local muscles of the eyes and relax the ciliary muscles.
Most cases of pseudomyopia are caused by ciliary muscle spasms, and most cases of pseudomyopia can be improved by relaxing the ciliary muscles through massage.
True myopia is mostly caused by the growth of the eye axis. Even with periocular massage, it is difficult to normalize the length of the eye axis, therefore, it is difficult to improve true myopia.
There is no effective treatment for true myopia. Clinical methods such as resting the eyes, wearing eyeglasses, and applying 0.01% atropine eye drops are generally needed to prevent and control myopia growth.
It is recommended that patients should seek medical advice in a timely manner and follow the doctor’s instructions.
