Prescription for Treating Cold-Dampness and Fire in the Liver Meridian

Cold and dampness in the liver meridian turn into fire can be considered to be treated with medicines such as Longdian Diarrhea Liver Tang and Zuojin Wan.
Zuo Jin Wan contains two Chinese herbs, Huang Lian and Wu Zhu Yuan; it has the effects of clearing the liver and diarrhea fire, lowering the rebelliousness and stopping vomiting (stopping the upward rush of stomach qi, stopping vomiting); it is mainly used for treating the liver and fire in the stomach, noisy swallowing of acid (feeling of discomfort in the stomach, and swallowing after acid floods the stomach), vomiting and dystocia (pain in the area of dystocia and ribs), hernias and ganglions, and cholera and transmutation of tendons. It is contraindicated in people with cold spleen and stomach, and the precautions and adverse effects are not clear.
Gentian Diarrhea Liver Soup is from “Collection and Interpretation of Medical Formulas”, which contains ten Chinese medicines: gentian, gardenia, scutellaria, mouton, zedoary, psyllium, bupleurum, glycyrrhiza, angelica sinensis, and shengdi; it has the efficacy of clearing away the actual fire of the liver and gallbladder and clearing away the dampness and heat of liver meridian.
It is mainly used to treat the symptoms of damp-heat of liver and gallbladder and inflammation of liver fire, which are headache, eye redness, darting pain, bitter taste in the mouth, deafness, swelling of yin and itching of yin, etc. It is not suitable for people with cold spleen and stomach. It should not be used in patients with deficiency and coldness in the spleen and stomach, and the precautions and adverse effects are not yet clear.
