What to do if the nail polyp grows

A nail polyp usually requires surgery and, if necessary, nail extraction. Polyp nail infections are mainly due to recurring nail infections that cause scarring of the tissue next to the nail groove. The nail polyp is a result of a local skin breakdown caused by the nail groove or trimming the nail too deeply, resulting in a secondary bacterial infection, most of which is Staphylococcus aureus, which can form a nail abscess in severe cases. Repeated attacks of nail fungus can lead to local tissue scarring, resulting in scarring polyps. For nail infection to form a scar polyp, the hyperplastic scar tissue next to the nail groove needs to be removed. In cases where some of the scar is trapped in the nail groove, nail extraction is also required to obtain a cure. In the case of polyp in the paronychium or nail groove, surgical treatment is required to remove the excess scar and perform nail extraction at the same time to obtain a cure.
