What to eat and drink after a gastroenteroscopy

Dietary attention after gastroenteroscopy should be based on the different ways of examination (e.g. awake, general anesthesia), whether there is trauma (e.g. whether to carry out gastroenteroscopy biopsy) and so on, including light and easy-to-digest diet, and avoiding spicy and stimulating food.
1. If the patient is awake in the state of gastroenteroscopy, no damage to the digestive tract mucosa, only need to pay attention to the status of local pharyngeal anesthesia, generally after the disappearance of anesthesia, the oropharyngeal function to return to normal can be eaten and drink, so as not to cause choking and coughing. There are no special contraindications to diet, but it is better to start with fluids to test the laryngopharyngeal function. Keep greasy, spicy and stimulating food to a minimum.
2. If the patient is under general anesthesia for gastroenteroscopy, wait until the patient is fully awake for 2~4 hours before eating.
3. If the patient in the gastroenteroscopy, tissue bite biopsy, generally have to fast for a few hours under the advice of the doctor (depending on the circumstances) to avoid bleeding. After being allowed to eat and drink on the advice of a doctor, it is best to eat a light, easily digestible diet, avoiding raw, hard, spicy and irritating foods.
If after gastroenteroscopy, inflammation or other lesions are found, corresponding dietary contraindications should be given according to the type of disease. It is best to eat a reasonable diet under the guidance of a doctor to avoid adverse complications.
