Frequent choking cough usually refers to an irritating, persistent or intermittent dry cough. This condition is associated with respiratory diseases such as chronic pharyngitis and chronic epididymitis, as well as allergic coughs caused by allergic factors, such as allergic rhinopharyngitis and cough variant asthma. It can also be caused by specific pathogens, such as endobronchial tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, laryngeal tuberculosis, and bronchitis and pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma and Chlamydia. Rarely, tumors of the larynx, such as laryngeal cancer, can be diagnosed by blood tests and bronchial endoscopy.
