Most of the food poisoning is caused by acute gastroenteritis symptoms caused by the patient’s consumption of food contaminated with bacteria or toxins, mostly manifested as paroxysmal intestinal colic, diarrhea with dilute watery stools or nausea, vomiting and fever. If the patient does not have significant vomiting symptoms and abdominal pain, scopolamine tablets can be given orally to relieve spasm and pain. If the patient vomits frequently, an injection of scopolamine must be given intramuscularly to relieve spasm and pain. Severe patients need to be given antibiotic treatment. The quinolone antibiotics, such as levofloxacin and norfloxacin, are preferred for the treatment of gastroenteritis symptoms.
