Why rotator cuff tears don’t hurt in the acute phase

Rotator cuff tears are painful in the acute stage. The rotator cuff is a group of tendons that surrounds the anterior superior posterior tendon complex of the humeral head, which plays an important role in maintaining the stability and function of the shoulder joint. A rotator cuff tear caused by trauma will cause severe pain in the acute stage, especially when doing shoulder abduction and lifting, and even can not complete the above movements. If the rotator cuff is partially torn, the rotator cuff can heal on its own by suspending and braking the upper limb. If the rotator cuff is completely torn, it can be repaired arthroscopically. In the case of a spontaneous tear in the elderly due to joint degeneration and tendon wear and tear, as the lesion is slowly developing, the pain is usually mostly insignificant and there is no such thing as an acute phase. If the symptoms of rotator cuff tear and limitation of shoulder joint activities occur, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital for medical examination, improve the examination and receive regular treatment.
