How long does it take to get your memory back from a concussion?

Concussion usually restores memory in 1 to 2 weeks, and in a few patients it may take 1 to 2 months. Although concussed patients are conscious for less than 30 minutes after the injury, no cranial hemorrhage occurs on imaging. Although there is no damage to brain function after concussion, memory loss, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, poor appetite and other symptoms, usually without medication, after a quiet bed rest for 1~2 weeks, most of the above symptoms can be restored. Some concussion patients may be older, weaker, or with psychological disorders after the injury, it may take a longer time to recover, clinically feasible to give hyperbaric oxygen therapy, cerebral rejuvenation or olanzapine medication, or more communication with the patient, assisted by psychotherapy, often 1~2 months to restore the patient’s memory and other uncomfortable symptoms. Concussion is not a serious injury, but it should be taken seriously, it is recommended to go to the neurosurgery department of the regular hospital for consultation and review.
