Patients with pyelonephritis may have the following abnormalities in the urine routine: i. Microscopic leukocytes greater than 5 per high magnification field of view. Second, microscopic erythrocytes are greater than 3 per high magnification view. Bacteria and nitrites are excessive. Some patients can also have a mild elevation of urine protein, which is caused by red blood cells and white blood cells. However, normal urine routine can not completely exclude pyelonephritis, because some patients, especially the elderly or autoimmune patients, such as the combination of AIDS, or the application of glucocorticoid immunosuppressant patients, urine routine can be completely normal. It is necessary to combine the patient’s symptoms with the results of blood tests and urine cultures to confirm the diagnosis.
