Anterior shoulder pain can be caused by the following reasons: First, frozen shoulder. Patients with frozen shoulder can have pain in the anterior and lateral shoulder, which often leads to a significant restriction of shoulder joint movement in all directions, commonly in the elderly. Second, rotator cuff injury, when there is a tear in the rotator cuff muscle, there can also be pain in the anterior rotator muscle of the shoulder. Third, biceps tendonitis or biceps tendon injury can cause significant pain and pressure pain in the anterior aspect of the biceps at the shoulder joint.
