What is the prognosis for aortic vascular coarctation?

Aortic vascular coarctation usually has a good prognosis if treated promptly, but if it is not treated promptly and a rupture of the vessel occurs, the prognosis is poorer and death may occur outright.
Aortic vascular coarctation, also called aortic coarctation aneurysm, is an acute cardiovascular disease in which there is a rupture in the lining of the aortic vessel wall through which blood enters the arterial wall, with entrapment edema occurring in the middle layer, and most patients experiencing an acute episode of severe chest pain.
Aortic vascular coarctation develops relatively quickly and has a high mortality rate if left untreated, however, aortic vascular coarctation is treatable and the risk of aortic dissection can be reduced with prompt management and proper treatment.
If aortic coarctation is diagnosed, it should be treated aggressively to improve survival. Specific treatment needs to follow the doctor’s advice.
