The difference between novel coronavirus diarrhea and common diarrhea mainly includes the etiology, epidemiological history of the patient, and other accompanying clinical symptoms. 1. Etiology: Neocoronavirus diarrhea is mostly associated with neocoronavirus infection and gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients. The etiology of common diarrhea can be considered to be related to other microbial infections such as bacterial and viral infections, as well as dietary factors, psychiatric factors, and autoimmune factors. 2. Epidemiologic history: Diarrhea patients with novel coronavirus infection mostly have a history of contact with patients traveling to and from infected areas and/or patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia and their close contacts. Patients with common diarrhea do not usually have such epidemiologic history. 3. Other clinical symptoms: As the patient’s disease progresses, patients with novel coronavirus diarrhea may have symptoms of novel coronavirus pneumonia such as dry cough, malaise, fever, nasal congestion, sore throat, and dyspnea. Patients with common diarrhea are prone to symptoms of intestinal illness such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Severe diarrhea or persistent unrelenting diarrhea requires prompt medical attention and treatment.
