According to the elevated blood pressure, patients with hypertension can be divided into three categories: Category 1: both systolic and diastolic blood pressure are elevated (i.e., systolic blood pressure is above 140 mmHg while diastolic blood pressure is above 90 mmHg) is called combined hypertension, which is a common type of hypertension. The second type: simple systolic hypertension, commonly seen in the elderly population, mainly because the arteries have hardened and are very elastic, so the pressure rises significantly during cardiac contraction, has attracted attention many years ago, and most now believe that this type of hypertension is equally prone to cardiovascular disease. The third category: simple diastolic hypertension, mostly seen in young and middle-aged people, and can become combined hypertension. It is generally believed that simple diastolic hypertension is due to neuropsychiatric problems, resulting in increased peripheral vascular resistance, while vascular elasticity is still good. However, there are also unrelated findings that suggest the same risk as combined hypertension. Our research in recent years has found that many people with pure diastolic hypertension are asymptomatic and thus neglect to seek medical attention. It was found that these patients often have a deficient pulse, while the symptoms have some real manifestations such as dizziness and headache, but the condition is mild. From the point of view of the pulse, we believe that hypertension for the deficiency on the basis of the actual evidence, so the early stage of the deficiency is dominated by this, along with hyperactivity, the disease pulse consistent, that is, the disease is dominated by deficiency, the pulse is dominated by deficiency; while the pulse of the elderly are mostly string and slippery and other powerful real pulse, the disease pulse does not match. Therefore, young people with pure diastolic hypertension may be “cured” as long as they adhere to the guide, diet, with the necessary Chinese or Western medicine, while systolic hypertension and combined hypertension are often more stubborn, not easy to cure and control.
