The correct name for temporomandibular arthritis is TMJ. It can be treated by general treatment, medication and surgery. 1. General treatment: Rest the jaw and keep the upper and lower teeth apart in a relaxed position when there is no movement. 2. Medication: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (diclofenac sodium, etc.) can be used to relieve the pain under doctor’s supervision. 3. Surgery: Arthrocentesis, which can reduce intra-articular pressure, can remove cartilage debris and inflammatory reaction products from the joint cavity. Arthroscopic surgery can be an effective alternative to open surgery and can be used in patients with all types of temporomandibular arthritis. Arthroplasty or arthroplasty can restore the form and function of the damaged joint to some extent and relieve symptoms. ‘ Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of TMJ are advised to go to the hospital promptly for treatment.’
