What’s wrong with the pain at the junction of the ear and the cheek?

Pain at the junction of ear and cheek is considered to be related to otitis media, mumps, temporomandibular arthritis and other causes.
1. Otitis media: If otitis media is caused by bacterial infection due to frequent pulling out of the ear or water in the ear, and the purulent infection spreads to the soft tissues of the face through the bone space, it may cause pain at the junction of the ear and cheek.
2. Mumps: If mumps is caused by viral infection, it is an acute respiratory infectious disease and usually manifests as fever, enlarged parotid glands and pain in the cheeks.
3. Temporomandibular arthritis: Temporomandibular arthritis (TMJ), also known as temporomandibular joint disorder, can cause pain at the junction of the ear and the cheek if it is caused by trauma to the joints or overloading of the TMJ.
If there is pain at the junction of the ear and the cheek, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time to find out the cause of the disease and target treatment to avoid delaying the condition and causing other damages.
