How long does it take for a child to recover from strabismus surgery

Children usually recover in 3 months after strabismus correction surgery.
Strabismus is a common ophthalmologic condition that is associated with abnormal congenital development and other factors. It usually develops in childhood and can be corrected through surgery and other means.
It usually takes 3 months to fully recover after strabismus correction surgery. However, the recovery from strabismus surgery is gradual, and the congestion in the child’s eye usually disappears in about 1 to 2 weeks after surgery. It takes about 3 months for the incision to heal completely.
In the early post-operative period, usually within half a month, children should be careful not to rub their eyes and not to rotate the eyeball drastically, as this may cause the surgical incision to split.
Children who have had strabismus surgery should have regular check-ups with their ophthalmologist to evaluate their recovery and to provide guidance on follow-up treatment and lifestyle considerations.
