How to treat a fall on the knee

The first step in the treatment of knee injuries is braking, and after clarifying the injury, general treatment, physical therapy, medication, and surgical treatment are given. After a fall on the knee, no matter how light or heavy the situation is, the first thing to do is to locally brake the knee, and perform X-ray, CT, MRI examination of the knee to clarify the specific damage of the knee. If simple knee soft tissue injury, local braking at the same time, the early stage of the injury should be local cold compresses, give rest, elevate the lower limb of the fall, 48 hours after the injury can be local hot compresses, physical therapy (infrared), oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain medication as prescribed by the doctor (diclofenac sodium extended-release tablets) and swelling medication (dioxymethamphetamine tablets). If there is fracture, dislocation, ligament and meniscus injury, first correct the dislocation, if the fracture can be aligned without collapse, ligament is mildly torn, the edge of the meniscus is not torn through the whole layer, and there is no roughness of the crack, it can be immobilized by plaster or brace for 6-8 weeks, with regular checkups, and oral pain relieving and anti-swelling medicines. If the fracture is serious, with collapse, ligament rupture, meniscus through the whole layer, wait for the swelling to subside and then surgery. The fall of the knee joint is recommended to actively seek medical attention, physician guidance for treatment.
