Can obesity-induced gout only be treated by weight loss?

Gout, compared to the common diabetes, seems to have little presence. However, the reality shows that gout and obesity are also positively correlated. As the number of patients with gout and hyperuricemia increases year by year in China, gout is gradually coming into the public eye and receiving a lot of attention. Especially in the obese group, there is a trend of overweight and obesity among gout patients, which suggests that obesity may be a risk factor for its development. As we all know, the main reason for obesity to cause type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance caused by abdominal fat accumulation, but insulin resistance can cause diabetes, but it also has a certain connection with gout. Insulin resistance can cause hyperinsulinemia, which in turn can induce hypo-excretionary hyperuricemia. In addition, the accumulation of visceral fat also causes hyper-synthetic hyperuricemia by increasing the flow of fatty acids to the liver. There is a close relationship between obesity and hyperuricemia, and the clinical features of gout are hyperuricemia and recurrent acute arthritis, so it seems that obese people are often “favored” by gout. The current treatment of gout is mainly based on life intervention and the use of drugs to relieve pain, and the whole treatment process is as difficult as diabetes. In contrast to traditional treatments, if the gout is caused by obesity, the condition can be effectively treated by losing weight. In this case, weight loss surgery can act as a stable gout treatment, and the surgical weight loss method has considerable advantages over general weight loss methods, which can prevent gout patients from suffering from gout disease due to the unstable weight loss effect when using other weight loss methods.
