Chronic gastritis may cause right rib pain after meals. Chronic gastritis symptoms are mostly non-specific, often manifested as discomfort in the upper and middle abdomen, fullness, dull pain, nausea and other discomforts, the right rib pain for the right upper abdominal position pain, so the right rib pain is not necessarily caused by chronic gastritis, but also may be associated with gallbladder stones with cholecystitis, liver disease, costal cartilage inflammation and so on. 1. Gallbladder stones with cholecystitis: gallbladder is a pear-shaped sac located in the right side of the rib cage behind the liver. In case of gallbladder stones with cholecystitis, the inflammation stimulates the gallbladder wall, causing right upper abdominal pain and obvious right upper abdominal pressure. 2. Liver diseases: mostly seen in hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma and so on. (1) Hepatitis: inflammation will lead to enlargement of liver tissue and cause irritation to the nerves on the hepatic envelope, causing pain in the right rib area. (2) Hepatocellular carcinoma: it is mostly persistent distension or dull pain in the right upper abdomen, which is related to the growth of cancerous tumor and pulling of hepatic peritoneum, and can also be manifested as pain in the right rib area. (3) Costochondritis: Inflammation of the right side of ribs may cause irritating pain, which may be manifested as right rib pain. If the right rib pain occurs frequently after meals or continues to be unrelieved, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to find out the cause of the pain and treat it as soon as possible so as to avoid delaying the condition.
