When do babies start drinking water

Babies are usually allowed to drink water appropriately right after birth, but this is related to factors such as how the baby is fed and illness. If babies are breastfed, they usually do not need to drink water before 6 months of age, but if there are special circumstances, you can always let your baby drink water appropriately. Because breastmilk contains sufficient water, babies can get enough water from breastmilk and usually do not need extra supplemental water. Parents can feed water to their babies after 6 months when they start to add complementary foods. If the baby is formula-fed from birth, you can feed the baby water appropriately at normal times. Because feeding formula is easy to make the baby’s body lack of water, but be careful not to drink too much at once to avoid water intoxication. If it is a special situation, such as the baby fever, diarrhea, whether breastfeeding or formula feeding, must be appropriate to the baby to drink water to avoid dehydration. Parents are advised to feed their babies water according to the specific situation, and to take their babies to the hospital in time if they become unwell.
