Our data for the last 5 years, stratified analysis showed that the sensitivity of breast ultrasound was significantly better than mammography in premenopausal women, high density breast (ACR grade 3-4), and small volume breast (≤400 ml) population, with the sensitivity of breast ultrasound and mammography in the three subgroups being 81.4% vs. 61.1%, 85.9% vs. 60.6%, 87.1% In postmenopausal women, the sensitivity of mammography was significantly better than that of ultrasound (90.2% vs. 85.6%). Statistical analysis of the results showed that the sensitivity of breast ultrasound screening was better than mammography in premenopausal women, whereas the sensitivity of breast X-ray screening was better than breast ultrasound in postmenopausal women. Therefore, based on the results of this clinical study and the principles of health economics, we recommended and implemented this “group screening and early diagnosis of breast cancer in premenopausal women based on breast ultrasound and postmenopausal women based on mammography” in primary care institutions in Jiangsu Province.
