What’s wrong with the numbness of the big toe and the second toe?

Tingling of the big toe and second toe can be caused by a variety of reasons, generally considered to be caused by improper footwear, flat feet, herniated discs, diabetes mellitus complicated by peripheral neuropathy, and so on. Physicians need to take appropriate treatment measures and methods according to different causes. 1. Improper footwear: For example, if a woman wears high heels for a long time or wears shoes that are too small or too tight, it can lead to poor local blood circulation and thus cause numbness. 2. Flat feet: patients with flat feet and bunions can experience numbness in their toes during exercise. 3. Herniated lumbar disc: patients with herniated or bulging lumbar discs compressing the sciatic nerve may experience radiating pain and numbness (from the waist to the buttocks and all the way to the soles of the feet and toes, etc.). 4. Diabetes mellitus complicating peripheral neuropathy: due to peripheral neuritis caused by unsatisfactory blood glucose control, patients appear numbness in the toes, which is a stocking-like change. Need to go to the hospital to confirm the diagnosis, the cause of the disease for targeted treatment and medication.
