What causes urine amylase to stay high?

If the patient’s urine amylase is always high, the first thing to consider is the possibility of acute or chronic pancreatitis, which needs to be judged in conjunction with the patient’s symptoms. If the patient also has epigastric pain, and has a history of overeating, binge drinking or high-fat meals, further abdominal ultrasound or abdominal CT examination is needed to clarify the diagnosis of pancreatitis. If the diagnosis is pancreatitis, the patient should be fasted and given anti-inflammatory, acid-suppressing and pancreatic secretion-suppressing treatment. If there is an outbreak of pancreatitis, the patient’s condition is critical and can lead to death.
