Methods of self-testing lung health include the breath-holding method, candle-blowing method, stair-climbing method, and so on.
The significance of lung function test is that it can detect lung and respiratory pathologies such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, bronchial asthma, etc. at an early stage.
1. Breath-holding method: the tested person can hold his/her breath after taking a deep breath, if he/she can hold his/her breath for more than 30 seconds, then it shows that his/her lung function is better, and if he/she can hold his/her breath for more than 20 seconds, then it shows that his/her lung function can be better.
2. Candle blowing method: Light a candle and blow it out in one breath from a distance of twenty centimeters away, which indicates good lung function; if the candle cannot be blown out in one breath from a distance of fifteen centimeters away, it may be insufficient for lung function.
3. Climbing stairs method: If you climb up three floors continuously at your usual speed without feeling short of breath, shortness of breath or tightness in the chest, it is a sign of good lung function, and the opposite is a sign of poor lung function.
Self-assessment of lung function is for reference only, and a doctor is needed to do professional assessment.
It is strictly prohibited for patients with bronchial asthma, obstructive emphysema, pulmonary heart disease, laryngeal edema, tracheal stenosis and other patients to do pulmonary function monitoring on their own. When lung function is abnormal, it is recommended to go to the respiratory department in time to clarify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment.
