The efficacy of yam and Chenpi hawthorn boiled together in water includes benefiting the qi and nourishing the yin, regulating the qi and strengthening the spleen, eliminating food and resolving the accumulation of stagnation. However, the effect is limited, generally not up to the therapeutic effect.
Chinese yam has the effects of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, tonifying the spleen, lungs and kidneys, consolidating essence and stopping the band. It can be used to treat spleen deficiency with little food, tiredness and fatigue, loose stools (thin and unformed stools) and diarrhea, lung deficiency with asthma and cough, kidney deficiency with spermatorrhea, and frequent urination under the belt. It is not suitable for those who are full of dampness (too much dampness leading to fullness and discomfort in the spleen and stomach) or those who have solid evils or stagnation.
Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae has the effects of regulating qi, strengthening the spleen, drying dampness and resolving phlegm (expelling dampness by drying dampness and resolving phlegm). It is used in treating vomiting, eructation (hiccups), damp phlegm, cold phlegm cough, and chest paralysis (chest tightness and pain). Caution should be exercised in patients with red tongue and little fluid, or with solid internal heat.
Hawthorn is effective in eliminating food stagnation, promoting circulation of Qi and dispersing blood stasis. It is used for treating food stagnation, dysentery and abdominal pain, hernia pain, chest and abdominal pain with stasis and dysmenorrhea. Use with caution if the spleen and stomach are weak without stagnation.
Note that the effective dose of yam, Chenpi and hawthorn boiled together in water is limited, generally cannot achieve the therapeutic effect; yam, Chenpi and hawthorn boiled together in water is recommended to stop using it if there is any discomfort, and consult a doctor in time.
