What to do if hydronephrosis leads to renal atrophy

Hydrocele leading to renal atrophy needs to be treated with surgery or renal replacement therapy according to the condition, renal function and other factors.
If unilateral hydronephrosis leads to renal atrophy, we can improve the renal function examination to know the level of renal function, if the renal function of the atrophied kidney is not seriously damaged, we can perform surgical treatment to relieve the obstruction; if the renal function of the atrophied kidney is basically disappeared, we can suggest to remove the atrophied kidney.
If bilateral hydronephrosis leads to bilateral renal atrophy, no matter what the level of renal function is, it is recommended to release the obstruction and understand the recovery changes of the patient’s renal function; if the bilateral renal function basically disappears renal replacement therapy can be performed, such as hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, renal transplantation and so on.
If patients find that hydronephrosis leads to renal atrophy, it is recommended to go to regular hospitals in time and standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance.
