Basal follicles between 3 and 11 per ovary are normal.
Basal follicles are the number of ovarian sinus follicles in the basal state each cycle. A normal basal follicle count of 3 to 11 per ovary is normal. The number of basal follicles represents the basal function of the ovaries, and too few or too many basal follicles represent abnormal ovarian function.
If the number of basic follicles in one ovary is less than 4, it suggests that the ovarian reserve function may be poor. If the number of basic follicles in one ovary is more than 12, it suggests the possibility of polycystic ovaries, both of which may have poor development of dominant follicles, resulting in ovulation disorders, causing infertility and so on.
When the basal follicle count is abnormal, sex hormones or other indicators should be added to further evaluate ovarian function.
