Patients who have wisdom teeth extracted may rinse their mouths after 24 hours. If you rinse your mouth within 24 hours of wisdom tooth extraction, it may cause bleeding, hematoma, and blood clot dislodgement in the extraction wound, which may then lead to inflammation, infection, and dry socket. After wisdom tooth extraction, patients need to bite cotton balls on the location of the extraction wound for half an hour to stop bleeding, and eat and drink 2-3 hours after wisdom tooth extraction. You should not brush your teeth or rinse your mouth for 24 hours after wisdom tooth extraction, and you should not lick the wound with your tongue or suck on it. After wisdom tooth extraction, patients should eat warm, cool, soft food, preferably semi-liquid food, and spicy and stimulating food is prohibited. Patients can use antibiotics prophylactically after tooth extraction and take oral painkillers if necessary. It is normal for patients to have slight blood in the mouth for 1-2 days after surgery. If there is a lot of bleeding or severe pain, promptly seek medical examination.
