According to Chinese medicine, migraine is mostly related to hyperactivity of liver yang (liver yang is over-exuberant, causing dizziness, dizziness, headache and other symptoms), insufficiency of qi and blood, phlegm-dampness stagnation and so on, and can be treated by oral Chinese patent medicines or acupuncture. 1. Oral proprietary Chinese medicines (1) Tianma Headache Tablet: composed of Tianma, Angelica dahurica, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong and Thornybush, it has the efficacy of nourishing blood, dispersing wind, dispersing cold and relieving pain (relieving pain by dispersing cold in the body), and can be used in treating headache with wind-cold, headache with blood deficiency, headache with blood stasis and relieving the symptoms of migraine. (2) Compound Yangjiao Granules: composed of Yangjiao, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Angelica dahurica, etc., it has the efficacy of calming the liver and analgesia, and can be used for the treatment of migraine, vascular headache, tension headache and so on. The adverse reactions and contraindications of the above two drugs are not yet clear. 2. Acupuncture: According to the meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine, migraine refers to Shaoyang headache, and the acupuncture points on Shaoyang meridian, such as Waiguan, Manxi and Fengchi, are usually selected for treatment. Waiguan is a point on the Shaoyang meridian of the hand, 2 inches above the dorsal transverse line of the wrist, between the ulnar and radial bones, and the Shaoyang meridian circulates through the lateral part of the head, so it can be used to treat migraine. Man Xi is the Xing point of the five Xing points of the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, located on the lateral side of the dorsum of the foot, between the 4th and 5th toes, behind the edge of the web of the toes, at the point of the red and white flesh margins (the junction between the heart of the hand and the dorsum of the hand, and the heart of the foot and the dorsum of the foot), and it has the efficacy of calming the liver and quenching the wind (regulating the liver’s function to get rid of the wind within the body), and it can be used to treat migraines caused by the over-excessiveness of the liver yang (the liver’s yang is overly strong, causing dizziness, glare, and headache) through needling. Fengchi point belongs to the foot Shaoyang bile meridian and is located in the depression between the upper end of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the upper end of the trapezius muscle on both sides of the occipital bone behind the neck. It has the efficacy of calming the Liver and quenching the wind (regulating the Liver’s function to get rid of the internal wind), waking up and opening up the brain (restoring the spirit and refreshing the mind), and opening the meridians and activating the collaterals and channels to alleviate the symptoms of migraines. Proprietary Chinese medicines need to be taken by a Chinese medicine practitioner after diagnosis, and acupuncture should be operated in a regular medical institution, not blind treatment.
